Here’s my piece of nonsense verse for day 16 of NaPoWriMo. The prompt was great fun, as I love children’s verse, with dancing rhyme and metre! This thumps a bit, but it was still fun! Here’s the prompt:
“Skeltonic, or tumbling, verse. In this form, there’s no specific number of syllables per line, but each line should be short, and should aim to have two or three stressed syllables. And the lines should rhyme. You just rhyme the same sound until you get tired of it, and then move on to another sound. ”

It’s time for tea
you both agree.
And what I see
is two small mes:
Earl Grey, GiGi
(my default pick)
but brewing it is no small trick
You want it now
and tell me how:
not so hot you have to blow,
but cooling makes it much too slow.
One cup with Peter Rabbit on it
another sterling, tarnished granite.
Two golden spoons
(with inscribed runes)
you screech like loons
your thirsty tune:
We want our tea!
Not him first…ME!
I pour it out
the china spout
and this was what it’s all about:
two thirsty boys
no need for toys
tea is still a welcome joy
cookie in hand
each drinks, then stands
and peace returns throughout the land ~
Love it
