This is the Summer issue of one of my favorite magazines (& not just because I have an essay in this issue, on p. 42!). It consistently features Oklahoma, in all our messy past, present & possible futures.
It’s won so many awards that if my dear friend (& excellent editor) Carla Walker wore them as medals, she couldn’t take a step for the the sheer number of accolades! This issue is especially engaging, marrying as it does Oklahoma’s troubled histories with so much gorgeous poetry, beautiful birds, and authentic voices.
