I’m still catching up, but I’m also wanting to do the prompts as they come up now, so that I can be on the same page as the rest of poetic America. In that spirit, here’s prompt #17, a nocturne:
Nocturne
The cat at the back door
The dog barking
Call & response
The noises of this night
No different than any other
Only that it is now
And now is always only
What it is, what this moment
Offers us
The metronome cadence
Of the heart beating
In the still darkness of sleep
Melody of night birds
Repeating
Melody of dreaming
Like chords in Chopin
Climbing. Falling.
I like the flow into Choping – nice work!
